Ronald and Sandra Floren celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on July 29th 2013. They were married at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Yakima. WA.

Ron and Sandy have two daughters: Tracy Mills (Wife of Noah Mills), and Sarah Wilske (wife of Robert Wilske). They have three granddaughters: Taylor and Nicole Mills, and Kyla Embree.

Ron and Sandy are lifelong Yakima residents. In their spare time they enjoy traveling to the beach, camping, and spending time with family.

They celebrated their anniversary with a family trip to Lincoln City, OR.


Allan – 66 years

August 10 marked the 66th wedding anniversary of Les and Leatrice Allan. They were married at the Presbyterian Church in Tieton, WA August 10, 1947.

Les and Leatrice met in high school, were good friends and starting courting after Les served four years in the military. Les still feels he married the prettiest girl in Tieton.

Les was employed with Simplot and Sno-Kist for many years before retiring. He also was an orchardist.

Both are life-long residents of Tieton.They were blessed with two sons, Terry (deceased) and Roger of Yakima. There were also blessed with one granddaughter, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Robert and Ginny Clements, along with Toby and Charity Bradley announce the engagement of their children, Robert (Bobby) Clements and Marisa Bradley.

Bobby graduated from East Valley High School in 2009 and attended Grays Harbor Community College (2010-11) where he played baseball and earned his AA degree. He works in the Yakima School District and is currently enrolled in the Education Program at CWU-Yakima. He plans to pursue a career in teaching and coaching.

Marisa graduated high school from both home school (2012) and the Running Start program at YVCC (2013), also earning her AA degree. She works as a cashier at Fred Meyer and plans to join the Yakima School District as well. Her long term goal is to be an architect.

The couple is planning a wedding in December at East Valley Reformed Church.

Selzler – 65 years

Selzler - 65 years

John and Ruth Selzler of Yakima will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary in August with a family gathering at a riverside cabin at Whistlin’ Jack Lodge.

John Selzler and Ruth Smith were married August 23, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in Prosser.

They have lived in the Yakima area since that time.

Mr. Selzler retired as general manager in orchard sprayer, sales and service for Silvan Inc. Mrs. Selzler retired from Washington State Dept. of Agriculture’s seed testing lab as a seed analyst and lab supervisor.

The couple has three children. Terry Loveless of Renton, WA, Rena Harrington and Dori Weber, both of Yakima.

They have seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Laverman - 50 years

Pete and Marjean Laverman were married August 16, 1963, at the Martin Christian Reformed Church in Martin, MI.

They have resided in Sunnyside, WA for 50 years.

Pete retired as a general contractor. When they were first married Marjean was a teacher at the Sunnyside Christian School, then became a permanent home-maker.

Pete and Marjean were blessed with four children, Doug (Tammie) Laverman from Sunnyside, WA, Jeff (Amy) Laverman from Billings, MT, John (Annette) Laverman from Aspen, CO and Sheri (John) Wick from Boise, ID.

They were again blessed with 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A trip to Cannon Beach with the children and grandchildren will be followed by a celebration with family and friends which will be held at a local restaurant.

Dukes - 50 years

Jim and Norma Dukes celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party July 26th at the Naches Sports Complex. Hosted by their children and Ken and Sharon Knight, music was by Jim Ide. A special thanks to all that attended.

Jim Dukes and Norma Jean Morrison were married Aug. 2, 1963 in Wapato, WA.

Jim graduated from Naches High and Norma from White Swan. They met through Jim’s mother, Florence.

Jim and Norma both retired in 2005 from Rowe Farms Inc. in Naches. Jim after 43 years.Jim’s passion is cars and dancing, which Norma shows the same interest.

They have three children, Troy and Yillivel Dukes of Yakima, Lisa and Brian Quantrille of Bothell and Jason and Alicia Dukes of Terrace Heights.

They have ten grandchildren, Hugo, Jason, Nichole, Brandon, Ashlan, Cameron, Brayden, Savannah, Sierra and Logan.

Larry and Jackie (Nelson) Blythe, of Yakima, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 20, in Cabo San Lucas with family. They were married in the Naches Presbyterian Church in 1963.

After serving in the Coast Guard, Larry retired from the Wapato Post Office in 1999. Jackie retired from Wapato School District in 2000.

Golfing and traveling are two of their favorite hobbies. They have 6 of the 50 states left to see. They plan to complete this in the fall of 2014.

Larry and Jackie have been blessed with three children: Jeff (Corrie), Zane and Chloe of Zillah, WA. Scott (Carrie) Drew and Ellie of Oregon City, Oregon, and Jennifer (Mark Tjia) of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Dolores (Valdez) and Carlos Capetillo married on August 4, 1973 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Wapato, WA.

Both Carlos and Dolores are retired, living the simple life around their loving family.

They have three loving children, Georgiana Vigil, Carlos Capetillo Jr, and Michelle Capetillo; five loving grandchildren, Joseph Capetillo, Gregorio Capetillo, Andrew Vigil, Elijah Vigil, Carlos Capetillo III, and Sebastian Vigil; and one great grandchild, Jason Capetillo.

Henry and Tish Gonzalez celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary August 6, 2013. They were married in Yakima, WA on August 6th, 1983 with family and friends.

They are blessed with three children, Veronica, Tony and DeAndra, and Erik J. They are also blessed with three grand-children, Cloe’, Violet, and Trivian.

To my wife and best friend, when years are passing by like days, and in my hand your hand is placed, a knowing smile crosses your face, a simple touch can still make my heart race. I can still smile and say with love and truth I love you Always and Forever…

Ray and Susan Keller of Cowiche are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. These high school sweethearts were married August 10, 1963.

Ray graduated from Washington State University one year after they were married. He is the general manager for Apple King, their family business. Susan is a homemaker and has done many years of volunteer work.

They have three children, Andrew Keller (Mary Jo) of Petoskey, MI; Heidi Wells (Bob) of Cowiche, WA; and Chad Keller (Alissa) of Yakima, WA.

They also have seven grandchildren, Ben, Sam, and Olivia Wells of Cowiche; Megan and Thomas Keller of Petoskey, MI; and Emma and Audrey Keller of Yakima.

Ray and Susan will be celebrating with a family dinner.

John and Colleen Jensen of Bickleton, WA are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Erica Jensen to Craig Kingsbury of Moscow, ID. Craig is the son of Brian Kingsbury and Monica Schaffer, both of Spokane.

Erica graduated from Bickleton High School in 2004 and Washington State University in 2009 with a degree in Communications and is employed at Northwestern Mutual in Moscow, ID.

Craig graduated from Cheney High School in 2003. After high school he joined the Army and was located in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During his time in the Army he served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. After five years, he received an honorable discharge from the Army. Craig will graduate from the University of Idaho in December with a degree in Rangeland Ecology and Management.

The couple is planning a September 28, 2013 wedding at American Homestead in Naches, WA.

Greg and Kathy Stafford of Chelan, WA are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Cody Stafford to Craig Barnes, son of John and Rhonda Barnes of Yakima.

Cody graduated from Chelan High School. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administrative Management from CWU. She holds a Dental Hygiene Degree from YVCC and is employed as a Dental Hygienist in Yakima, WA.

Craig graduated from East Valley High School. He attended Gray’s Harbor College in Aberdeen, WA. He has Bachelor Degrees in Business Management and in Business Marketing from Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS. Craig is employed with Rainier Fruit Sales in Selah, WA.

After a Christmas time proposal, their wedding is planned for August 24, 2013 at the Stafford Cabin in Winthrop, WA.

Hubert – 60 years

Hubert - Married August 22, 1953

Allen Glen Hubert and Lavonda Marie Uscola were married on August 22, 1953, at the United Methodist Church in Rupert, Idaho.

Al, having completed a tour of duty in the Korean War, was finishing at YVCC on the G.I. Bill and Lavonda was working as a dental assistant.

The young couple moved to Yakima where Al signed a professional baseball contract with the Yakima Bears, who at the time was the Double A Club of the Milwaukee Braves. Lavonda began working at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Later, Al re-entered the military to make a career in the U.S. Army and the Washington National Guard. They then moved to Toppenish, where they made their home and raised their children. Lavonda initially quit working to stay at home with their two daughters, but later returned to the work force as a dental assistant.

Al’s final tour of duty was as the Command Sargeant Major of the Washington National Guard stationed at Camp Murray/Fort Lewis in Tacoma. Lavonda continued working as a dental assistant. In December 1991, Al retired after 40 plus years of service. The couple returned to their home in Toppenish.

Hubert - 60 years

They both remained active in Toppenish for many years, Lavonda volunteered at the Mural Society, the Toppenish Hospital Gift Shop, and served as vice-chairperson of the Republican Central Committee. She also helped organize the first Whistle Stop celebration in Toppenish. Al served on the City Council for 14 years, was mayor for a time, and also was the chairman for several civic organizations in Yakima and Toppenish.

They have two daughters, Brenda Hubert of Toppenish and Cindy (Sam) Steinborn of Kennewick and one grandson, Ryker Steinborn, who is a sophomore at WSU.

Their two daughters will be hosting a open house at Al and Lavonda’s home at 103 S. Date St., Toppen-ish, on Saturday, August 24th, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. All who wish to drop in and congratulate the couple are encouraged to attend. Cake and coffee will be served. NO gifts please.

Caitlin Harrison and Walter Strafford were married July 27th, 2013 at Knight Hill Winery in Zillah, Washington.

Friends and family gathered in the days leading up to the event to assist with various preparations including the construction of the stage on which the ceremony was conducted.

Caitlin is the daughter of Terrence and Anne Harrison of Zillah. She graduated from Davis High School in Yakima WA., and received a B.A. in English Literature from Seattle University.

Walter is the son of Dr. Craig Strafford and Dr. Rebecca Terrell Strafford of Gallipolis, Ohio. Walter graduated from the Hotchkiss School and earned a B.F.A in Film & Television Production from New York University.

The couple met in New York when Caitlin was obtaining her Masters in Social Work at Columbia University.

Caitlin is currently employed as a forensic social worker for The Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, NY. Walter recently completed production of his first feature length film, “Kilimanjaro,” which premiered at the 2013 South by Southwest Film Festival.

The couple currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

Pat (Graham) Henle and Melvin Henle were married on August 24, 1953 in Goldendale, WA. They met and began to date while attending Toppenigh High School.

Mel left to serve in the Army after his graduation and Pat remained until her graduation and then they spent two years in the service.

They resided in Toppenish most of their lives, moving to Yakima after retirement.

Mel retired from 30 years with the U.S. Department of Interior (Bureau of Indian Affairs) and then worked for seven years for Huylar Construction as Pat continued to work until her retirement.

Pat was the secretary for the Methodist Church in Toppenish when the children were small, then worked in medical records for 10 years followed by a 15-year stint as an elementary school secretary for the Toppenish School District, retiring in 1995.

They have two daughters, Tammy and Kim Henle, a grandson Casey (Wendy) Kelly, a granddaughter Molly Kelly, and twin great-granddaughters Kiley and Kendall Kelly.

They plan to celebrate their 60 years of marriage with a trip to Victoria, BC.

Mike and Connie Falon of Yakima together with Matt and Suzie Erb of Roy, WA, are happy to announce the engagement of their children Troy M. Erb and Allie N. Falon of Yelm, WA.

Allie Falon graduated from West Valley High School in 2005. She has a degree from the Yakima Beauty College, in cosmetology. She will complete her medical administration degree in December 2013.

Troy Erb graduated from Yelm High School in 2007. He is an apprentice electrician and is currently employed as a laborer for Infosource in Yelm, WA. Troy also loves being a calf roper, in his spare time.

A September 14th country wedding is scheduled at the home of Greg and Christy Boisselle, “The Boisselle Homestead” in Yakima, WA.

On August 18, 1963, Joe and Barbara Huston were married in Wenatchee, Washington’s newly built Seventh-day Adventist Church.

They had met at Walla Walla University the previous year. After graduation, they spent their first anniversary on a snow covered 40-foot fire-spotter tower deep into Idaho’s Clearwater Forest.

After seven years bossing around his X-Ray employees at Bellevue’s Overlake Hospital, Joe changed professions and moved the family to Walla Walla, and then Yakima in 1982. Shortly thereafter Portland based Westmark Industries became his employer for 29 years.

Their oldest Son Todd lives in Seattle (when he isn’t traveling the Globe). Jeff is in Monument, Colorado with the 4 grandchildren, Carly, twins Susannah and Joseph, as well as Dylan.

Bob and Pauline (Patnode) Kautzman were married August 17, 1963 in Moxee.

Bob retired from Heath Sign after 32 years. Pauline retired from Bank of America after 34 years.

They have two daughters, Cherie Vetsch (Chuck) and Ann Hille (Bryan) of Yakima. They also have two grandchildren.

A trip to the Oregon coast is planned.

We are ecstatic to announce the engagement of our children!

Jeffrey Krueger will marry Lauren Fenn on September 29, 2013 at The Swiftwater Winery in Cle Elum, WA.

Jeff is the son of Doug and Deb Krueger of Selah, WA. He graduated from Selah High School in 2002 and Spokane Community College in 2007. He now lives in Issaquah and is employed by Alaska Airlines as an A&P mechanic.

Lauren is the daughter of David and Ruth Fenn of Issaquah, WA. She graduated from Liberty High School in 2003 and UPS in 2008. She is employed by Alaska Airlines as a flight attendant and is also a skin care consultant for Rodan Fields. She lives in West Seattle.

The happy couple will honeymoon in Hawaii and plans to live in the Seattle area.
